At Pilots of the Caribbean, we believe in the power of iconic symbols to connect us to a larger, meaningful history.

Our fine art pieces, known as commemorative medals and sometimes referred to as coins, are crafted to honour the legacy of Caribbean RAF pilots. While not legal tender, their limited availability, craftsmanship, and historical significance make them highly prized collectables. For those passionate about preserving heritage, these medals represent not only a unique piece of history but also a potential long-term investment for discerning collectors.

In 2013, Terry Jervis created the Pilots Of The Caribbean brand, curating an award-winning exhibition in collaboration with the RAF Museum and Black Cultural Archives.

After the tenth anniversary of this ground breaking exhibition, he wanted to create something special that would immortalise and honour the bravery and sacrifice.

 
Rolls Royce immediately recognised the historical value in telling part of their story, and exclusively supplied metal from the Merlin engine used in the original aircraft.

 

 

Jack Barclay Bentley also wanted to be involved as the engines were made in Bentley's factory in Crewe.

 

Very quickly, a plan was finalised to create one-off gold tribute pieces that would be made under a Royal Warrant by Worcester Medal Service Ltd.

 

 

We are delighted to announce that instead of just one-off pieces, we are now creating a very special series of gold and silver coins, infused with the original Merlin engine metal, and released as strictly limited editions.
